Real estate QR code for yard signs, flyers and listings
A real estate QR code lets a passer-by open the listing, a virtual tour or the photo gallery while standing at the kerb. It is a link code, static, so it never expires while the page is up. It is free with no sign-up, made in your browser, and verified by a real scanner before you download it, ready for a weatherproof yard sign.
Content: Listing link
Paste the property listing page, a virtual tour or a photo gallery link.
Style
PNG, JPG or SVG up to 2 MB. It stays on your device.
Your codes on this device
Off by default. When on, each downloaded code (type, content, style) is saved in this browser only, never uploaded. You can delete them at any time.
How to make a real estate QR code
- Decide where a scan should land: the listing page, a 3D tour, a photo gallery or your own property page. Copy that address from the browser.
- Prefer a page you control. Portal listings are removed when the property sells; a page on your own site can be redirected to your other listings later.
- Paste the address into Listing link and click Test link to check it loads on a phone.
- Open the Style panel to add your brokerage logo with Upload logo; the generator raises Error correction to H so the code still scans.
- Wait for the badge to read Verified, then choose Download SVG or Download PDF for the sign printer and Download PNG for the flyer and the listing.
Real estate QR code details
The code holds one address, exactly as pasted. A QR code for a property listing on a portal works until the portal removes the listing, which happens the day the sale completes; the sign then sends people to an error page for as long as it stands. Point the code at a page on a domain you own instead, yourname.com/12-oak-street, and when the house sells, redirect that path to your current listings or a sold page with your details. The static vs dynamic guide explains why this beats a paid redirect service that can expire the link.
What to link
- The listing page, with price, photos and contact details.
- A virtual tour or 3D walkthrough, ideal for a sign where buyers cannot get in.
- A gallery or a video for a flyer.
Yard sign QR code sizes
A person on the pavement stands 2–3 m from a sign at the boundary; a driver who slows down is 4–5 m away. Divide the distance by ten: 20 cm wide for the pavement, 50 cm for the road. Keep a white margin of at least four modules and put a short line beneath the code: ‘Scan for photos and price’.
Printing outdoors
Signs are printed on corrugated plastic or aluminium composite with UV-resistant inks. Ask for a matte laminate rather than gloss, which reflects the sky and blinds the camera at the angle a phone is held. Give the printer the SVG or the PDF, not a PNG, so the edges stay sharp at 50 cm. Scan the finished sign from the road before it goes up.
Common mistakes
- A code on the bottom edge, hidden by grass.
- Dark modules on the brokerage’s dark blue; keep the code dark on white.
This code never expires
The listing address is stored inside the code, so a yard sign QR code keeps working for as long as the page it points to stays online. This is a static QR code: the data is written into the pattern, so scanning it needs no server, no account and no subscription. There is nothing to renew and no redirect that can be switched off, which is why a code made here keeps working for as long as the printed copy exists. The trade-off is honest: a static code cannot be edited after printing and does not count scans. If you need either, encode a link to a page you control. Read how static and dynamic codes differ, and if a code you already have has stopped working, see why QR codes expire.
Styling, formats and print size
Every code can be styled in the Style panel: six dot shapes, corner shapes, solid or gradient colours, a transparent background, a quiet zone of 0–8 modules, and your own logo up to 30 percent of the width. A contrast checker warns below 3:1 and blocks downloads below 1.5:1, and after each change the preview is decoded again so the badge tells you whether the styled code still scans.
| Output | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Web, documents, quick prints | 256 to 4096 px; transparent background supported |
| SVG | Designers and print shops | Vector, scales without limit; logo embedded |
| Printing at an exact size | Vector modules at a chosen width in mm or inches, optional caption | |
| JPG | Platforms that reject PNG | White background; no transparency |
| EPS | Legacy print workflows | Vector from the module matrix, no logo |
| Copy / Print | Pasting into a document; a quick paper test | PNG to the clipboard; print view with caption |
Print size: as a rule of thumb the code should be at least one tenth of the scanning distance wide, with the quiet zone included.
| Scan distance | Minimum width |
|---|---|
| 0.5 m (arm's length) | 5 cm |
| 1 m | 10 cm |
| 2 m | 20 cm |
| 5 m | 50 cm |
A yard sign QR code is scanned from the pavement or a car window at 2–5 m, so print it 20–50 cm wide; on an A4 flyer or a brochure, 2.5–3 cm is enough.
The QR code size guide has a calculator for module size, DPI and distance.
Frequently asked questions
Does a real estate QR code expire?
No. The code stores the link itself and is generated in your browser; nothing on this site is involved when it is scanned. It fails only if the page goes away, as happens to portal listings after a sale. Link to a page you control and redirect it later.
What size should a QR code be on a yard sign?
Twenty to fifty centimetres wide. The rule is scan distance divided by ten: a pedestrian at 2 m needs 20 cm, a car at the kerb 40–50 cm. Mount it at 1–1.5 m height, keep four modules of white margin, and avoid a glossy finish.
Should the code link to the listing, the tour or the gallery?
For a sign, the listing page or a virtual tour. For a flyer or a brochure, a gallery or a video works. Whichever you pick, put it on a page you own whenever possible so the address survives the sale.
Can I add my brokerage logo to the code?
Yes. Upload it in the Style panel; the generator switches to error correction H so up to 30 percent of the code can be covered and it still scans. Keep the logo under a third of the width and the modules dark on white.
What happens to the code when the property sells?
The printed code cannot change, but the page behind it can. If the link is on your own site, redirect it to your active listings or a sold notice with your details. If it points at a portal, the listing disappears and the code leads to an error page.
Which file should I give the sign printer?
SVG or PDF. Both are vector, so a 50 cm code has perfectly straight edges, and the PDF can be exported at the exact physical size with a caption. Use PNG for the online listing and the emailed flyer.
